    Good quick overview, although I did not get the impression that Schematix spent much time with the device. Some things I noticed with mine (100MHz version): - Yes, the included BNC-to-BNC cable(s) are not to be trusted with higher frequency signals, also they are unreasonably short - The integral frequency counter says that the device's own generated sine waves are 56.9% duty cycle (which also appeared in this view, but was not commented on) - None of the buttons on this device are "Tactile". That term should be reserved for buttons where the user can feel the moment when electrical contact is made, such as ones that have a "click" or other tactile feedback. - My device also still had the label over the piezo 'beeper'. My guess is that the manufacturer might be leaving them on to keep the beeper volume a bit more muted, because while the user can defeat the beeper entirely, there is no control over the volume, and it might be annoyingly loud without the label in place. - Having to set potentially long numerical parameters one digit at a time (instead of with a keypad, which this device does not have) quickly gets annoying. And the knob, being without knurls, and pretty shallow, can be a bit more difficult to turn than it should be, and it has to be turned a lot during operations. - The manual, while better than with most Chinese equipment, is hardly "comprehensive". A LOT of important things are not even mentioned. The more one uses this device, the more issues with the manual get noticed. One example; no mention is made about how to properly exit any given screen or menu. For the most part, the CH1 or CH1 button can do this, but it is hardly intuitive. But overall, this unit offers a lot of bag for the buck.

    Great. I want to make my own isolation transformer (220<->220) and first I thought about winding my own, but 220 turns? it's gonna take me a while. Then I thought what happens if I take a couple of trash microwave transformers, take out the 220v primary of one and put it into the place where the seondary goes in the second transformer? I would get the same exact number of turns on both, so, 220-220v. So my lan is to use a metal ginder to cut the sheets and re-solder them, as I have seen in other videos. Doable?

    I appreciate your video. I can tell you from experience that you don't want to get bitten by the rf of the output coil. I once was working on a commercial level final amplified for a hf transmitter. Accidentally contacted the wrong thing in it and was thrown back about 6 feet into a concrete block wall. Not fun. Made me much more cautious when working with HV HF final output devices for sure. Safety is always the primary concern when building projects of this sort. I like your pc board design, but, the main buss lans on the board could have been a lot wider and possibly topped with a copper sheet lan soldered to the tin lan on the board. This would spread out the heat and also carry a great deal more current. Anyway, a very well constructed design. Thanks again for the video. I find these very interesting and informative. Have a great day!

      @@MainelyElectrons Do the caps make a sound when charging up? Im debating on how I should power the welder because I find supercaps to be rly cool but on the other hand, I could save money by just finding a car battery or something. I could maybe do the supercaps with an atx psu but I heard those dont have proper current limiting which the caps need..? So itd require a dc current limiting dongle

    • @MainelyElectrons
      @MainelyElectrons 3 дня назад

      @@sgas the capacitors don’t make a sound, but the power supply makes a ticking sound until it hits around 6 V on the super capacitors. Once it’s charged up to 6 V it’ll take around 50 W of power from the power supply for about 30 seconds anytime I do a spot weld. I think due to the extremely low resistance of the ultra capacitors the desktop bench power supply thinks it’s sensing a short and cuts power, but it must be applying power for long enough during that short pulse to charge the super capacitor a little.

    • @MainelyElectrons
      @MainelyElectrons 3 дня назад

      @@sgas a car battery or something of the like would definitely be cheaper, but also a lot larger. One thing that I did not like about getting the ultra capacitor pack as part of the kit, was the length of the power cables to connect the capacitor pack to the main board. The cable is just barely long enough to reach, like we’re talking half inch of play. It’s definitely the most efficient length of cable possible.

    So it looks like the screens are now too close, and when you push the button, the boosted energy is able to jump the gap. Maybe a smaller transformer would keep it from making the jump, but still pack a punch when the bug gets inside and makes contact.

    hi, if using 12vdc then must use a transformer and it is quite a heavy and big capacity transformer, if I make a dc power supply directly taken from the 220vac power outlet (using a bridge diode and a capacitor and supposed to become about 300vdc), what needs to be modified? the size of copper and the numbers of the copper wires turning? and what else? please advise me, thanks.

    What a valuable video! And in more ways than expected - the comedy bit was hilarious! Thank you. Did anybody suggest, that placing the filter behind the fan might add to the suction? I do wonder how much the dense charcoal filter hinders airflow, and whether there would be any trade off in ways of fumes seeping through the cracks (instead of passing through the filter, after being hit by the blades of the fan)?

    Hi, I'd really love to know the width of your BB, I am converting my Giant, and its 73mm and I dont have that much thread protruding as shown at 6mins 20secs. I cannot get the aluminium cover nut on, there is not enough thread to bite on to. Also I have 25mm pedal clearance to the chain stay on the RHS but only 5mm clearance on the pedal to the LHS chain stay . The pedals are therefore offset by about 20mm to the right. There is no spacer on the RHS and the right cannot come any closer anyway, as the 44T would hit the chain stay. I see that you are not using spacer washers for the 2 x motor mount screws, so I am thinking your BB is 68mm. Bizarre that my BBS02B 750W motor does not fit correctly.
